Hi,

Temiloluwa Johnson (b. 2001) is a photojournalist and storyteller from Lagos, Nigeria and based in Ibadan, Nigeria. Her works are centered around identity, social and cultural expression, as well as environmental issues: the typical human condition. She seeks the whys and hows of the human identity through her images by exploring the intricate dance between culture and the human experience, capturing the strength of individuals and communities navigating complex social and environmental challenges. She strives to show the courage, beauty, and identity embedded in cultural heritage and everyday life.

She is a new cultural artist with a new voice and has been exhibited by PictureThis for the Sony World Photography Organization, and featured by Getty Images, The Continent Africa, The Republic, and others. She has been shortlisted for two major grants like magnum photos and made the top 10 finalist for Ian parry photojournalism grant. She interned for a few months at Waste Management organization in Lagos and also interned in the Ministry of Environment, Oyo State as an undergraduate and a photojournalist, where she got hands-on experience documenting the Recycle-Reduce-Reuse story. It was one of her proudest moments. In 2025, she was awarded the World Press Photo Contest winner for African singles category; the only Nigerian on the list.

She wishes that with every photo, she tells a story that resonates. Temmy is deeply committed to sustainability, psychology, poetry, plantain, film, travel, love, dancing in the bathroom, hugs and black clothing.

Her favorite quote which she hopes to get tatted soon is- “You will burn and you will burn out, you will be healed and you will come back again.”
